C.C. Cowan is the President of CCP Publishing & Entertainment. The New York Based author was born and raised in Brooklyn and has been writing since the young age of 10 years old. C.C. attributes his love of writing to the encouragement he received as a child, from his mom, and from a very special group of elementary school teachers.
Cowan has worked in many capacities, as an employee of the New York City Transit Authority, as a Senior Wire-Specialist and Assistant Trader alongside top Investment Traders on Wall Street, as well as in the Banking and Advertising industries; but it was a love for writing that would truly command his attention.
While working on wall street, Cowan dreamed of a greater purpose in life, one that would allow him to reach out to millions of people in a positive way. In 1997 he established a poetic greeting card company under the name: Exquisite Thoughts Inc. The founding of the company spawned the 2001 release of C.C. Cowan’s first book "Life: Through My Eyes" - a collection of Short Stories and Poetry- which today is in it's second print run!

The success of the compilation brought about a successful regional signing tour, which
unfortunately had to be cut short due to the events surrounding 9/11. The release however, earned Mr. Cowan local and regional recognition as one of the hottest new African American writers to watch for. As a featured-performer,Cowan has graced many stages throughout the Eastern and Southern regions, but attributes most of his success to performing in what he refers to as the “hot venues” of New York City.
Some of the venues C.C. has performed in included: The Village Underground, Club Groove, The Sugar Shack, Pure Lounge, 101 on 7th, Nuyorican Poets Café, The Brooklyn Moon Café, The Brooklyn Tea Party, Franks Place, Jimmy’s Uptown, Londell’s & The Sugar Bar.
Bruce George who is the Executive Producer / Talent Coordinator for Russell Simmons’ Def Poetry Jam made this comment about Cowan’s collection of Short Stories & Poetry “Pure Therapy! “Cowan goes way beneath the surface; Truly a great read!”
In the fall of 2002 the company went through a restructuring to facilitate a greater scope of creative endeavors and Exquisite Thoughts Inc. became CCP Publishing & Entertainment and the company would soon focus on screenwriting and theatrical production as well.
"At CCP Publishing & Entertainment, quality is always the cornerstone of great entertainment, and is at the forefront of consideration before presenting a body of work to the public. We work hard to avoid any reinforcement of negative stereotypes associated with the state of black entertainment. Our goal is to create quality entertainment for the world and families, with a special focus on the African American family. We pride ourselves on ensuring that minorities are not only seen in a positive light, but in a realistic one as well."
C.C. Cowan is no stranger to the film and theatre industry; you might have caught a glimpse of him in such shows as HBO’s Oz, NBC’s Third Watch as well as Law & Order S.V.U. Cowan has also found home in a number of off Broadway productions, including Almost Home, The Dog Thief, Dying for Love. Cowan's most memorable stage appearance has been in two runs of Anthere’ Motayne’s Substantial Justice where he starred in the lead role of Falcon a vigilante cop who would stop at nothing to bring justice to the mean streets of New York.
Cowan has won many awards for his poems as well, including The Editor’s Choice Award from the National Library of Poetry, and the Poet of the Millennium Award from The International Society of Poets. Cowan’s work has been included in numerous anthologies including; Embrace the Morning, A Symphony of Verse and Boundless Journey to mention a few.
CCP Publishing & Entertainment currently boasts a large catalogue of original screenplays, theatrical productions and novels which include the highly anticipated DOUBLE Sophomore release of "Deeper Than Skin" and "Too Big For Broadway" scheduled for release Spring/Summer 2008.
"Too Big For Broadway" a novel, is based on an original stage production entitled "Gals!" written by Cowan in 2006. The cast included the legendary songbirds Martha Wash (Two Tons of Fun, Weather Girls, BlackBox) & Sarah Dash (Labelle) and Judy Peterson (the Madea Plays).
Cowan is currently in talks to bring the production to Broadway and has begun filming for network airing.
